Zeiad Hussein’s journey into eCommerce stems from over two decades of experience in the HVAC industry. His career began in college when he joined a thermostat manufacturing startup. Mentored by three industry veterans, Zeiad gained an in-depth understanding of the industry, equating his seven years there to earning a master’s and PhD in the field.

The 2008/2009 recession led Zeiad to leave the startup, needing a fresh start. At 26, with a wedding approaching and many life changes on the horizon, he needed a new direction. He joined a manufacturer rep firm, where he interacted with CEOs and VPs in the HVAC space and would question their future plans for eCommerce. Their insufficient efforts led to his idea to create a much needed online marketplace.

Seeing the potential in analyzing search volume and the need for easy access to vetted products, Zeiad founded ProSupplyDirect. He leveraged his industry relationships to start selling products on eBay. After proving the concept within a year and a half, Zeiad left his full-time job to focus on his business. Juggling multiple roles, from shipping to customer service, he dedicated himself to building ProSupplyDirect. With his wife's encouragement and support, he persevered.

Navigating the Pandemic

The Covid-19 pandemic presented a unique challenge and opportunity for Zeiad. While many struggled with the extended time at home, Zeiad cherished the increased family time. This period strengthened his bond with his family and allowed him to coach his children's basketball team, a role he greatly values. The virtual shift in business operations has enabled him to balance family and professional responsibilities more effectively.
